Merry Christmas
It’s that time of year again, when the nights are drawing in and Christmas decorations are going up. We would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the staff at Holbrook House.
Enclosed, please find an early Christmas present from Spa Holbrook, the ‘ 12 Days of Christmas Guest Pass ’ . This pass is quite special, as it entitles a Guest of your choice to use the club during December for twelve consecutive days and if they wished to join, they will be entitled to a half price joining fee. As an added incentive, the first thirty Guests to join will pay no joining fee!!
Over this festive period we are pleased to announce many new and exciting events and services that we hope will be of interest.
A Special Boxing Day Gala Dinner for Members
The evening’s festivities begin with a Champagne Cocktail party at 7.30pm, before a Black Tie Gala Dinner…a five course culinary delight awaits you. Then really ‘let your hair down’ at our Las Vegas Casino Night and try your hand at Black Jack or the Roulette Table, a great night out for family and friends.

New Years Eve Celebrations
Bring in the New Year with a night to remember at Holbrook. The eve of the New Year is a lavish evening of extravagance and enjoyment.
Champagne and Canap�s by the fire before a gourmet five course dinner, followed by dancing to live band ‘Bedrock’. A spectacular firework display takes place in the grounds at midnight. A memorable way to toast the dawning of 2005.

Sian Truelove, our new Hair & Beauty Manager, has quickly settled and has already introduced a variety of new and exciting treatments. All the therapists have beaverishly been attending training courses, raising their level of expertise to greater heights. Sian has nominated Anita as staff member of the month for the Hair and Beauty department.

Hopi Ear Candling
This is a pure relaxation ceremony to calm the mind, soothe the head and ears, bringing a wonderful feeling of balance and harmony. The handmade ear candles are completely safe and natural, they help to draw impurities from the ears, help to remove excess wax and equalise pressure. The treatment is helpful for earache, headache and migraine, tinitus, sinus problems, colds and flu and glue ear. Breast Cancer Awareness Month
I am sure you did not fail to notice the abundance of pink throughout the club during the month of October. Several events took place, including a ‘pink’ Aquafit class, Life Cycle Challenge and a very successful belly dancing evening. At this point, on behalf of Spa Holbrook, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Sue Wiltshire for all her hard work and effort, and congratulate her on raising well over �500. May I also extend my thanks to all those of you who contributed towards such a worthy cause.
The new Stables menu has arrived and Ben has created some new and exciting dishes to tantalize your taste buds. Including a fresh selection of sandwiches and salads and a grilled ‘T-Bone’ steak for the hearty eaters in the club!! Afternoon Teas is also available. Please note our food service times have changed – Monday to Friday 11am – 2.30pm & 4.30pm – 8.30pm, weekends 11am – 2.30pm.
Quiz Night
Due to popular demand and your sadistic tendencies Steve’s Friday Night Quiz is back already. On Friday 3 rd December Steve shall once again be posing the questions, so if you want an excuse to miss just one of those early Christmas parties, save on your winter fuel and electricity bill or simply just get out, then sign up at reception. The event is a fun one and not seriously difficult, so bring your friends, enjoy drinks at �1 each and see if you can win one of our great prizes. If you can’t make this one, our next quiz night will be on Friday 28 th January
Plans for upgrading the Ladies’ Changing Rooms
We would like to invite all female members to please take a few minutes to peruse over the preliminary plans for the upgraded and extended ladies’ changing areas, which can be found in the ladies changing room. It is of vital importance at this stage that we take a comprehensive view of everybody’s requirements with regards to creating the ideal changing facility. Please let your views be known, either verbally or in writing at reception. We really do appreciate your comments.
Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
Following your support and generosity of last year, Steve have once again put together a few items of interest regarding the subject of remembrance. If any member would like to know more about tracing family members lost in either of the World Wars, or would like any advice on family medal groups, then please contact Steve who will be more than happy to help.
Congratulations to Sue Wiltshire who was nominated by several members of staff to receive the honorary title of Member of the Month for November. As mentioned previously, Sue’s unrelenting enthusiasm and hard work towards the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign was remarkable.

Squash Court
Usage of the squash court continues to increase and due to this increase, and the time of year, we have decided to introduce a squash ladder, it is all rather simple. Register your interest to participate at reception and based on your ability, you will be placed onto the ladder in reverse order. You may then work your way to the top by challenging the person above you on the ladder. If you win you then swap places on the ladder with your opponent.
In these early stages, we only wish to identify interest levels so don’t worry about your ability.
Coming Soon…
Starting on December 20 th will be the ‘new’ Spa Manager, Julian Smith. He has had a great deal of experience in the leisure industry, some 17 years and is coming the whole way from Scotland!!! (But he’s not actually Scottish). When you see him, please do congratulate Julian, not on getting the job but he has recently just got married !!
